Lake Tarawera Outlet
A picturesque Department of Conservation camping ground on the eastern shores of Lake Tarawera. A birdge links the campsite to several tracks. Trout fishing and water sports on the lake are popular in summer time. Fly fishing season is 1 Oct - 31 May.
Sites: 30. Fees: $7/$2. Pick your site and report to the Camp Manager. Water and toilet facilities available.
Access: Access to Tarawera Outlet is via private forestry roads from Kawerau township. Pick up a road access permit from the Kawerau Information Centre, Plunket Street, Kawerau ($5 per permit) www.kawerauonline.co.nz Open 9am - 4pm in winter. 8am - 7pm in summer.
