The Whakatane District has 3 easily accessible camping grounds in the Te Urewera National Park that are an ideal base for exploring the great outdoors. Activities such as swimming, fishing, walking, picnics and bird watching are usually not far away. Conservation campsites offer a range of services and facilities but are generally basic so for your own comfort you need to be self-sufficient. If leaving your camping site or car unattended keep all valuables locked away and out of site. The following 3 sites operate on a self-registration basis. Deposit the appropriate fee in an envelope and place it in the box at the registration stand. Place your receipt section on your vehicle of tent. No dogs are permitted in the park.
