Welcome to our place – OHOPE BEACH

The golden sands of Ohope Beach stretch out for a stunning 11 kilometres. The sparkling blue Pacific Ocean offers a cornucopia of incredible deep sea fishing and marine sports.

In early summer, New Zealand’s Pohutukawa tree blazes with red blossom – Ohope Beach is known as “Pohutukawa Paradise”.

At Ohope Beach, you’re just 10 minutes’ drive from Whakatane, in the spectacular Eastern Bay of Plenty of New Zealand. You’re ideally placed to walk or run the beautiful Nga Tapuwae O Toi bush track, watch rare sea birds in unspoiled Ohiwa Harbour, or simply enjoy the great swimming.

From Whakatane, take a White Island live volcano tour, go whale watching and dolphin swimming, or catch the buzz of the thriving entertainment and shopping centre.

Whakatane's "One Year To Go" celebrations included the Shout it Out campaign. Here are some of Whakatane's future rugby stars getting amongst the celebration on Ohope Beach.
