This club began in the 1980s as a Triathlon Club. During the 1990s it expanded its role to include multi-sport athletes and cater for both on-road and off-road events.
The Club holds regular monthly triathlons and duathlons on the first Sunday of every month. These are short distances and cater for a range of athletes, ranging from the seriously fit individuals through to young children, and are popular with adults who are giving it a ‘go’ for the first time. The venue is opposite the Ohope Golf Club, at the end of the Ohiwa spit. The race entry fee is minimal, with free entry for club members. The annual club subscription is only $20.
The Club is now well known for three major events each year, Whakatane Great Outdoors Monty's Revenge, Ohope Sprint Triathlon, Whakatane Great Outdoors 24hr Adventure Race. More information here... |
