✨MATARIKI WHAKAPIRI 2023 ✨

Last year, Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi and Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa held the inaugural Matariki Whakapiri festival at Te Mānuka Tūtahi marae to celebrate the first Matariki Public Holiday in Aotearoa.

The festival was a profound success with kapahaka performances, a variety of stalls, and finishing off the day with an evening of local entertainment and a night market.

A festival enjoyed by Ngāti Awa and the community.

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa and Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi decided to hold the Matariki Whakapiri event annually so that we can continue to showcase the knowledge, talents, and skills within our Mataatua rohe and celebrate Matariki together.
