Poi Poi - Maurice van Liempd

Maurice van Liempd is a local artist and winner of the Keep NZ Mural beautiful competition.

This work is be a long-lasting reminder of our communities’ collective efforts in taking out Supreme at the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Awards and will also serve as a constant reminder of the need to keep striving to keep our slice of paradise beautiful.  

From the awards: "The mural provides life and colour to the well-used Esplanade walkway, and we are pleased to have selected a design which reflects themes of sustainability and environment. It is hoped the mural will enhance the space in a unique way, contributing to Whakatāne CBD becoming even more beautiful, and encouraging more foot traffic to the area."
