Whakatāne Kiwi Trust - Kiwi Hub
Now open the long-awaited Kiwi Hub – a dedicated space to celebrate and educate people about the North Island brown kiwi and the important conservation work happening across our local reserves.
Located at the rear of the Whakatāne isite building at 144 The Strand, the Kiwi Hub is open to all and free to visit. It’s a perfect stop for families, nature lovers, and anyone curious to learn more about our incredible local biodiversity. The kids’ corner offers nature-themed activities, while the displays provide engaging insights into the work being done by the Whakatāne Kiwi Trust and their partners.
The Kiwi Hub wouldn’t exist without the generous support of their key funders: the Whakatāne-Ōhope Community Board, the Ōhope Lions Club, and Whakatāne District Council. As a registered charity, they rely on grants, sponsorship, and donations to carry out our work, and are grateful these partners recognised the value of a permanent, public-facing space in Aotearoa’s Kiwi Capital.
The Kiwi Hub is open rain or shine – especially great for wet and wild days when visiting the bush might not be ideal. We invite you to come in, explore, and enjoy this new addition to Whakatāne!
