Holly Waghorn's (Miss Universe New Zealand 2017 Finalist) Top things to do in Whakatāne
Whakatāne local Holly Waghorn is competing in the Miss Universe New Zealand (MUNZ) 2017. Her journey so far has resulted in making the finals. As we type this, she's on her way to compete in Thailand before the grand finale in Auckland.
We spoke to her before she took off to find out what she loves most about Whakatāne; here’s what she had to say.
1. I love spending time at the beach. In the ocean or even just a walk along the sand.
2. I love the Kohi Point bushwalk. One of my favourite places in this whole town is right at the end of the point, where the cliff disappears from under you, and you just look for miles out to the horizon of the ocean. Where you’re high up enough to only hear the ocean and the sound of birds.
3. I love going to The Heads! I love watching the boats come and go and hearing the water against the rocks.
4. I love going to cafes. Especially Poppies Cafe! It has a really nice relaxing feel to it and great coffee and food!
5. I love the people. Everyone is friendly and supportive. Especially since being in MUNZ I’ve noticed this even more. I am blown away by how much generosity this town has!
