eBikes, eScooters, SUP (Stand-up paddleboards) and yummy coffee are on the menu at Wharfside Ōhope every day.

Wharfside, the pop-up activity hub for locals and visitors alike, is back for the summer of 2023/2024 and autumn 2024. On site is VMAC Rides and SUP Ōhope giving people the chance to explore Ōhope and Ōhiwa Harbour by land and sea.

Also on site, you can visit the famous Fishermans Wharf for dinner and hire a kayak to explore with KG Kayaks.

This summer, visit the isite Visitor Information Centre desk, who can assist you with District-wide information and to book activities, Tio Ōhiwa will be available to book you on their newly launched cruise and shuck tour at Ōhiwa Harbour.

From 27 December to Saturday 3 February, join us in summer for music, entertainment, food trucks and Mata beer tasty beverages, from midday.

This picturesque, well-groomed 18-hole course is on flat, easy walking land and is adjacent to the Tarawera River with mountain views and bird life adding to the enjoyment for players. 

The spectaular Tarawera Falls is a 35-metre high waterfall on the Tarawera River that flows out of Lake Tarawera and across a lava flow

Muriwai is a loved and honoured ancestress of the Mataatua tribes whose mana has endured down the centuries.

Shuttle service to the Pakihi Track and other stop off points, or mountain bike down after being dropped off by helicopter. Cycle hire, cruisers, tandems, road and mountain bikes.

Te Papaka pa is rich in Ngāti Awa history. From the summit, a magnificent panorama landward and seaward avails. Nowadays the site is no longer inhabited but is open to sightseers.
