Kiwi Wandering Trail

A self-guided scavenger hunt in Whakatāne, New Zealand, the Kiwi Capital of the World! Find the ten life-like, life‑size bronze kiwi statues which wander right through the heart of Whakatāne.

You can pick up a brochure with the clues from our team at the i-SITE or Te Kōputu a Te Whanga a Toi - Library and Exhibition Centre, or download the brochure before you head off - (PDF, 654 KB).

Things to know before you go...

The walking trail is about 1.6km (approx. 1 hour return)
The walk starts at Te Kōputu a Te Whanga a Toi - Library and Exhibition Centre and finishes at Wairaka Centennial Park
There are 10 beautiful bronze kiwi to find!
Keep safe near roads and always look before crossing!
