Nestled amongst acres of bushland, and perfectly situated to take advantage of the Bay of Plenty’s lakes, rivers, mountains and beaches. Enjoy a secluded holiday, relaxing at the pools, and taking day trip to all the attractions the Bay of Plenty has to offer. Awakeri Hot Springs offers a beautifully peaceful holiday park, just 10 minutes drive from Whakatāne.

Both our holiday park guests and the general public can take a dip in our Awakeri thermal hot pools. Our large outdoor hot pool and our private spas are all filled with natural mineral water of around 38 degrees Celsius.

Not as well known as the other courses in our District, the Te Teko golf course provides a relaxing atmosphere ideal for the casual golfer and groups. 

Te Papaka pa is rich in Ngāti Awa history. From the summit, a magnificent panorama landward and seaward avails. Nowadays the site is no longer inhabited but is open to sightseers.  

Te Kura Whare is New Zealand’s first living building. It embodies Tūhoe and Tūhoetana values of respect for nature and whenua, inspired by the unity of people.

Shuttle service to the Pakihi Track and other stop off points, or mountain bike down after being dropped off by helicopter. Cycle hire, cruisers, tandems, road and mountain bikes.

Te Toka o Irakewa is one of three landmarks that Toroa was told to look for by his father Irakewa when the Mataatua canoe journeyed to Kakahoroa.
