Mural by Owen Dippie and Tame Iti

Te Tira Hou (New Generation)

A collaboration between Tame Iti and Kawerau-born, internationally recognized muralist, Owen Dippie. Watching over the corner of Whakatāne's The Strand and Richardson Street, it blends the artists' signature styles: Dippie's large-scale portraiture with Iti's drifts of people - ancestors standing in support.

More things to do

Not as well known as the other courses in our District, the Te Teko golf course provides a relaxing atmosphere ideal for the casual golfer and groups.

Swim some laps in the pool, relax in one of the spas, work out in the gym complex, take the kids paddling in the learners or beach pools, or get your thrills on the hydroslide.

Travel along a piece of New Zealand's rich rail history and experience the natural beauty and adventure from the comfort of a self-driven rail-cart

Hidden within this complex mural by American street artist Brian Gonnella, Taurahere Tangata, are many stories, references, and important Tīpuna of the Kopeopeo area.

Te Wairere Falls is a sacred landmark to all of Mataatua. One of the most beautiful and historically significant places in Whakatāne.
