New Zealand Sportfishing Council Youth Nationals
Aligned with the April school holidays
Sections available for Primary and High School students
Looking for an exciting activity these school holidays? The NZSFC Youth Nationals 2026 is a nationwide tournament designed especially for junior anglers, running from 3–18 April 2026.
This event is a fantastic opportunity for young people under 18 to experience the thrill of fishing. Following a similar format to The Nationals, the tournament features:
- All‑tackle, measure‑and‑release structure
- Points‑based scoring that encourages fishing lighter line classes
- Awesome prizes thanks to Daiwa NZ and Just Another Fisherman
How to Enter
Entry is just $5. Junior anglers can register at their nearest fishing club — no membership required.
Enter at the Whakatāne Sportfishing Club or complete your entry online.
The tournament includes a wide range of sections, from handline fishing right through to anglers with access to boats. There’s even a photography section focusing on fun and the marine environment.
EBOP Interschool Challenge
Primary and high school students can also compete for the prestigious Whakatāne Sportfishing Club Inc Youth Nationals EBOP Interschool Tournament Trophy. Will your school take it out this year?
