Mythical Creature Scavenger Hunt

Throughout School Holidays during opening hours

A self-guided, library wide activity where children search for hidden magical creatures using a themed map and puzzle clues.

Ages 4–12 years.

 

Hā Kākano Preschool Storytime

Tuesday 7 April and Tuesday 14 April 10.30am to 11am

Our regular storytime session for littlies, with a magical spin! Join us for enchanted stories and waiata.

Ages 0–5 years.

 

VR Taster Sessions

Tuesday 7 April, 10.30am to 2.30pm

Book in for a taster session with our VR headsets.  Have a go at one of three games available.

Lego Legends

Wednesday 8 April and Wednesday 15 April 2pm to 3.30pm

Pop into the library for our holiday LEGO session. Build, create, and remix with endless LEGO possibilities.

Ages 4+

 

Magical Creature Design Studio

Two-day workshop: Thursday 9 April (10.30 to 12.30pm) and Thursday 16 April (10.30 to 11.30am)

Children dream up their own magical creature, anything from a shy marshmallow dragon to a mischievous cloud fox. Participants will create their magical creature from clay and build a personality for their creature. Held over two sessions, the first session will include clay sculpting and the second session will include painting.

Scratch coding: Find the Magic Jewel - FULLY BOOKED

Tuesday 14 April, 1.30pm to 3pm

Create a ‘Find the Magic Jewel’ game with Scratch.  Each participant will create their own game by following along with the group instruction. BYO device or let us know on the booking form if you need to borrow one.

Create a Gnome Home

Friday 10 April, 10.30am to 12pm

Come build a Gnome Home at this fun and creative workshop. Using Terracotta pots and saucers, air dry clay, paint, and natural materials to build an enchanted home for a lucky garden creature with a ‘living’ roof.  Is it a Gnome Home? Is it a palace for a Patupaiarehe? Or Is it a Hedgehog Hotel? You can decide during these school holidays.

Ages 5–8 years.
